The Biden administration has recently signed two new pieces of legislation — the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) and the Providing Urgent Maternal Protections for Nursing Mothers Act (PUMP Act) — into law. Learn how pregnant women and new moms enjoy the protection of these new laws.

Illinois Employers, Stay Out of Your Employees’ Hair

The CROWN Act prohibits employers from discriminating against employees because of race-based hairstyles and hair textures. The Act went into effect on January 1, 2023. Illinois joins 17 other states that have passed similar laws and more than half of all states have pending legislation for consideration.

Ann Dempsey Joins Williams McCarthy LLP

WilliamsMcCarthy LLP announced the recent addition of Ann T. Dempsey. Her practice will focus on estate planning, real estate, and corporate law. Dempsey has more than 30 years of experience in law. Before joining WilliamsMcCarthy LLP, she worked at Oliver Close, LLC. Throughout her career, she has handled a variety of estate planning and probate concerns, real estate transactions, and business transactions.

Marc Gravino Selected to the 2023 Super Lawyers List

Marc C. Gravino has been selected by his peers to the 2023 Illinois Super Lawyers list. Each year, no more than five percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor. Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

Natural Land Institute Annual Dinner
