Local Lawyers Named to Illinois State Bar Association Section Councils

[vc_row][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text]WilliamsMcCarthyLLP attorneys John Holevas, Thomas Sandquist and Daniel Huntley have been appointed to various section councils of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) for the 2017-2018 bar year.

John Holevas, a partner in the firm’s litigation group, has been appointed to the Civil Practice Section Council and the Federal Practice Section Council. Tom Sandquist, a partner in the firm’s Creditor’s Rights and Bankruptcy group, has been reappointed as Newsletter Editor for the Commercial, Banking, Collections and Bankruptcy Section of the ISBA and Daniel Huntley, an associate in the firm’s transactional group, has been reappointed to the Real Estate Section Council.

“Section councils and committees are the backbone of the ISBA,” said the Hon. Russell Hartigan, of Western Springs, ISBA President for 2017-2018. “Leadership is vital to the success of these groups.”

Section councils provide continuing education and legislative services to lawyers who practice in a specific area of law. Each section is governed by a council appointed by the state bar president. Judges and non-lawyers also serve on committees and section councils.

The ISBA is a 33,000-member association with offices in Springfield and Chicago, and it provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, in addition to education and services to the public.
