Laura D. Mruk, an associate attorney in the firm's Rockford office, is a native of Gurnee, Illinois. She concentrates her practice in the litigation of employment, landlord/tenant, commercial, trust and estate matters. Laura also focuses on appellate law having represented clients in the Illinois appellate courts, the Seventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. She has experiencing advocating for clients throughout all stages of litigation including mediation, arbitration, and trial.
In her employment practice, Laura represents management interests in virtually all aspects of the employment relationship with their employees, including counseling employers with respect to the hiring process, discipline and separation of their employees, and if necessary, the representation of employers in connection with litigated disputes. She has represented employers in a wide variety of matters before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. Laura also represents trustees and administrators in contested trust and estate matters.
Laura is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Winnebago County Bar Association. Laura is currently assistant editor for the Illinois State Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section Council and the Corporate Law Department Section Council. Laura is also a member of the Trial Bar for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Active in the community, Laura serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Rockford Dance Company, serves on the Income and Health Impact Council for the United Way and is a member of Junior League of Rockford. As an undergraduate, Laura focused on public and political communications, and theater.
