Background

Mr. Shepherd is a partner in the firm's workers' compensation department and has been a member of the firm for twenty-nine years. John has thirty-one years of experience in handling workers' compensation claims. He is a 1969 graduate of the University of Illinois and 1975 graduate from John Marshall School of Law. Mr. Shepherd concentrates his practice exclusively in workers' compensation litigation, representing employers and insurance carriers. He is a frequent speaker and lecturer on workers' compensation issues, having spoken most recently for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the National Business Institute, as well as the Illinois State Bar Association Continuing Education Seminar annually, and Winnebago County Bar Association Seminars on workers' compensation.

His professional affiliations include memberships in the Winnebago County, American and Illinois Bar Associations, member and Vice-Chair of the Workers' Compensation Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association, member of the Illinois Self-Insurers Association, the Workers' Compensation Lawyer's Association and was a member of the Board of Directors of that organization in 1991. Mr. Shepherd is also a Fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation, and served as Past President of the Winnebago County Bar Foundation. Mr. Shepherd will become the Chairperson of the Workers' Compensation Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association in June 2007.

Mr. Shepherd serves on the Board of Directors of WilliamsMcCarthy LLP and is also on the Board of Directors of Janet Wattles Mental Health Center where he serves on the H.R. Committee and the Corporate Compliance Committee.
